CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, July 23 (PIA) -- Xavier University (XU) held a half-day symposium on health education titled “Mother’s Class” last July 19 in their resettlement community for tropical storm Sendong survivors, the Xavier Ecoville.
XU Dr. Jose P. Rizal Medicine School collaborated with the XU College of Nursing to come up with the said activity bearing the theme, “Breastfeeding ay ugaliin upang si baby paglaki ay bigatin.”
The session covered malnutrition, deficiencies of vitamins and minerals, benefits of breastfeeding, supplementary feeding for children, and the use of "go, grow and glow" foods to combat malnutrition.
The health cluster of Xavier Ecoville supported the activity that was done in time for the nutrition month celebration.
Second-year nursing students under the community health nursing class organized the two- to six-year-old children and facilitated a children’s class on proper hand washing and tooth brushing. (Xyla Mercedita Gualberto/XU/PIA10)
